Ronan McMahon: 'Art is for all, Art is within all'
The Lancaster artist, the son of a crystal engraver, showcases some of his work - all acrylic paint - and speaks of the epiphany that followed his father's death in 2010
Ronan McMahon is 45, a father of two and lives in Lancaster, a town in the north-west of England.
Below McMahon outlines why he paints.
‘Also known as JudeArt, I’m an experimenting artist from Lancaster, creating my artwork for roughly 2 years now. Abstract is my style, in more ways than using acrylic paint.’
‘My emotions, feelings and inspirations are not accompanied with a name or explanation, simply a presentation from me to you. I’ll leave interpretation, labeling and likening for others to freely express or not!’
‘Growing up as the son of a crystal engraver, I always had an appreciation of craft, skill and expressionism. Sadly, my artistic skills were extremely limited and was pretty crap at what we’re taught and conditioned as art!!
‘After the passing of my father in 2010 from a short illness, a light illuminated inside me. When I get my paints out, put on some music, and allow myself to flow I forget the forgettable and retain the memorable. I never imagined “art” would bring me the peace, joy and satisfaction it does with every piece I produce…..even the bad ones!!’

‘Art is for all, Art is within all.’
