roaming Philadelphia 9, 10, 11 streets
i see again Manhattan, fall of ‘03,
a sudden crashing downpour over
42nd and Broadway
and one of the great spectacles -
from nowhere - somewhere - suddenly
a firm of sellers huckstering umbrellas
— as if they waited in the shadows for
this, their moment to punt out brollies for 6 & 7 dollars a throw
then, the heavens stopped sundering and the umbrella merchants vanished -
