Journey Round The House
you see the disappointed and you see the disappointed everywhere and they have the same disappointments we all suffer except their stuff is imbued, has become part of them, for some, all of them, for others.
and they do not seem to see this, realise it;
that they have been swindled out of what should be all of ours - the joy of a vault of sun in the yard, a good steak salted only, walking down the streets on a rainy afternoon, a neardrunk bottle of wine left decanting a century…
the disappointed were not warned at school or in the home that this can happen to everyone, and, that, like the bluebird’s song, the lightness of pure good feeling, it is vital and precious;
