She Sings On The Balcony

she sings on the balcony 

and she sings in the morning

and she sings a song of hirundo rustica flying south

and she sings a zephyr cooling the open air opera

and she sings of the wildflowered vegas

of all Mallorca in the blue dawn rising

of the man a little boy again

and she sings to make the world her own

and she sings to remember how she sung this day

and she sings and those who hear become like her

and when they do they silent wail for what they lost
